Despite a first-day flat tire, Doug Gordon arrived at his intended day-one destination: Walterboro, SC. Today, he is headed for Sylvania, GA. On Wednesday, he will pedal his way to Sandersville, GA. On Thursday, he’ll arrive in Forsyth, GA.
Media attention for Gordon’s journey is gaining momentum.
The awareness of Gordon’s trip was made public last week, thanks to a news story on the local ABC affiliate (WCIV) in Charleston. There have also been newspaper reports in the state of Indiana about this trip because Gordon played college football for Indiana University for four years in the early 1970s. This Thursday afternoon, Gordon will be a guest on the Dan Dakich Show on 1070 AM in Indianapolis. On Thursday, Gordon will be a ‘live’ in-studio guest on two television stations in Macon, GA – on WGXA (Fox) and on the WMGT (NBC) in Macon, GA.
Companies and fellow executives can financially support Gordon’s journey in one of three ways: (1) access www.ridedougride.org; (2) pledge a lump sum or a certain amount per mile; or (3) give directly to PHIT America. To date, 19 individuals and/or companies, including Modell’s Sporting Goods, have agreed to support Gordon’s efforts with a per mile pledge. Garmin, Trek, Under Armour, and Louis Garneau have pledged in-kind support for Gordon’s coast-to-coast bike ride.
