What Are PHIT KIDS?

PHIT KIDS are children who used to be inactive or sedentary, who have now jumpstarted their active lifestyles by being physically active at least 3 times a week for 60 minutes each day.  This is also the level of activity used by the Physical Activity Council.  PHIT KIDS can either be children who are already active to healthy standards or those who are now. PHIT America strongly agrees with international respected organizations like the CDC and World Health Organization that every child should be active 60 minutes per day 7 days a week. By increasing a child's physical activity, they will improve their health and academic performance in school.

There are 10 million children in the USA who are total 'couch potatoes.' They are not active, at least once a year, in any of 104 different sports or activities which the Physical Activity Council tracks every year.  There are 33 million children who are not 'active to healthy standards' or 3 times a week or more. And, 80% of all children are at risk of disease due to physical inactivity. Sitting has become the new smoking!

PHIT America Creates PHIT KIDS Through The GO! Grants Programs

We are not just stating that physical activity and physical education are vital.  Instead, we are 'making it happen' by distributing PHIT America GO! Grants to schools where children are sedentary.  In 2015, PHIT America has jumpstarted more physical activity in more than 50,000 children in schools throughout the USA. We are creating more PHIT KIDS. Learn about our GO! Grants HERE.

GO! Grants Create More KIDS Who Will Play More Sports:  In & Outside of School

It is one thing to get a child active in school 3 or times a week. But, what do they do when they go home?  The chart below is the seven-year proof of the value of physical education. Surveying 40,000 Americans over seven years, there were two groups: those who had no P.E. (red bars) and those who had P.E. in school (blue bars). Then, we asked them what activities they participated in outside of school.

Wow!  Look at the impact of P.E. in school.  Clearly, Physical Education is the grassroots physical activity program for ALL activity.
